Botswana looks to partner with Mozambique

President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama is back home from a three-day state visit to Mozambique.
Speaking after the President and his entourage’s arrival on Tuesday, the Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources Mr Kitso Mokaila said the two countries had numerous discussions on bilateral relationships, among them, the sharing of water resources.
Mr Mokaila said Mozambique was developing hydro power about which the two countries discussed how Botswana could be part of the project.
The other area, the minister said, was for Mozambique to enable Botswana to develop a dry port in that country along the Indian Ocean.
For his part, the Minister of Transport and Communications Mr Tshenolo Mabeo said the two countries together with Zimbabwe were looking into developing a railway line that would link the three parties.
Another area was the bilateral air service agreement which he said had unfortunately not been signed pending some amendments.
He said the project was important for the two countries to conclude as the service would benefit the tourism sector.ENDS
