23 May 2016
Police in Selebi Phikwe recently conducted a two-week induction course for 22 special constables.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the course on Friday, Selebi Phikwe station commander, Superintendent Victor Nlebesi, said the course was to reinforce the purpose of national policing.
He said they intended to display a disciplined workforce through which Selebi Phikwe would be a model to other places.
Mr Richard Bashe from Selebi Phikwe West constituency said police had to serve the nation.
He said the national pillar of safe and secure nation meant that all police officers were responsible for the principle because it was important to protect Botswana and all those who lived in her so that the nation may enjoy peace and freedom.
“The letters that make the word ‘police’ stand for politeness, obedience, loyalty, integrity, courtesy and efficiency which means officers must dress to suit their character and show excellence in their everyday work,” he said, also urging the newly inducted officers to familiarise themselves with the Botswana statutes.
‘Be alert always and work on zero tolerance of crime,’ he said. ENDS
