Trade minister commends good performance

Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Mr Vincent Seretse has commended good performances of parastatal organisations and departments under the ministry. 

Giving a keynote address at the ministry’s 2015/16 awards ceremony held at Travel Lodge in Gaborone on May night, Mr Seretse explained that the average output of his ministry had been satisfactory. 

He said parastatal organisations under his ministry were regarded as the best performing parastatals Botswana. Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) won the award for the best performing parastatal organisation, while Local Enterprises Agency (LEA) was recognised as the most Economic Diversification Drive (EDD) compliant parastatal organisation under the ministry. 

Mr Seretse urged the ministry’s staff to use the awards as a platform for introspection of the ministry’ service delivery, and also asked them to continue serving the public with passion and commitment. 

Various awards were handed out to deserving employees and departments during the night. The overall best performer award went to Mr Othusitse Tsalaile, who was rewarded with a P1 200 voucher, a framed certificate and a weekend paid local trip for two people. 

The award for best performers in living the ministry’s values of integrity, professionalism and team work was won by Boikanyo Sebotho. The most improved employee award went to Rapelang Moatshe, best performer innovation and creativity award went to Thabang Letlhogile, while the best mentor award was given to Johana Segotlong. 

Thirty-two employees from various departments received the best performers’ category 1 awards, while six employees received the best performers’ category 2 awards. The above awards recipients were rewarded with P800 vouchers and framed certificates. 

 The unit of Internal Trade under Department of Trade and Consumer Affairs scooped the most improved unit award, best district office award went to Francistown Department of Trade and Consumer Affairs, while the Department of Industrial Affairs won the best performing department award. 

The ministerial tender committee together with the private secretary to the minister, Mr Uyega Balungi and Mr Thapelo Moatshe were given the permanent secretary’s special award. The minister’s special award went to the ministry’s public relations unit. ENDS
