GABORONE - Botswana National Sports Committee is set to conduct a three-day elite sports seminar in Gaborone from May 26.
The seminar titled, ‘Bridging the gap between sports science and training the elite athletes’ is meant for developing and extracting potential of high level elite athletes for world competitions.
According to a press release, the seminar will discuss both theory and practical applications on athlete training on nutrition, mental training, polymeric, strengths and conditioning and sports medicine.
It states that the seminar seeks to empower the attendees with the latest methods in training elite athletes, which will ultimately make an impact on how coaches train athletes.
Attendees expected at the seminar are elite coaches, physiotherapists and sports development officers.
It further says the seminar will be facilitated by Dr Philip Claussen, a doctor of chiropractic and strength and conditioning coach from the United States of America.
The release further states that Dr Claussen has trained and rehabbed vast amounts of athletes and teams to championships and gold medals using a hands and interactive style of learning.
It says he has served as the Olympic team doctor and strength and conditioning coach for Bahamas. He has assisted Bahamas men 4x400m relay team to win gold and silver at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. ENDS
