17 May 2016

Public relations officer for Botswana Tertiary Student Sports Association, Duncan Segabo is hopeful that they would send a formidable side to the Confederation of Universities, Colleges in Southern Africa (CUCSA) games.

Speaking to BOPA after bracket C selection that was combined with Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) and ABM selection on Saturday, Segabo said athletes from soccer, netball, volleyball and basketball displayed premium performance.

The athletes’ good performance, especially from the Saturday selection, he said gave them confidence that they would be able to assemble a formidable side for CUCSA games after the final selection camp.

CUCSA games are billed for at Bulawayo (Zimbabwe) from July 30 to August 7.

Segabo cautioned those who were selected during bracket A and B two weeks ago to expect a tough final selection on June 4, where those who were selected would battle out for slots to the CUCSA games.

He said they were quite a number of athletes that were outstanding such at Tlamelo Mothale from ABM, who plays for Township Rollers ladies soccer side, while they had a tough time during the male soccer side selection as most of the players were outstanding.

In netball, he said Boikanyo Selogelo who had featured in both the under 17 and under 20 sides displayed incredible performance.

However, Segabo said indoor sporting codes and athletics selection would be based on national rankings and recent championships. ENDS
