Police VI beat Kalavango

The Mascom Volleyball league has just started and in its second week this past weekend teams were up in arms trying to locate themselves in the log standing in order to top .
This weekend saw various teams across the volleyball spectrum going against each other to remain relevant. Among them Police VI male team ensured their relevance when they beat Kalavango 3 – 0 in a game played at the Lobatse Sports Complex on Saturday.
Police VI men went into the game showing determination and will power to win the game shown by their strength when serving. Police wiped the first set and won 1–0 leading the game. Netting point after point, Police men kept on the lead even in the second set to end the second set with a 25-11 point difference.
Maatla Mogapi’s spikes by the net sent the Kalavango boys in a frenzy as they were unable to defend them leading to more points on the Police side.
Poor service by Kalavango players, which had the ball ending by the net cost them the game while on the other side Police’s players serviced well, gave them hard balls that were difficult to block and earned themselves more points.
At 25–15 the third set came to an end and Police VI taking a sweet swipe at their opponents, had Police ending the game on a clean plate with the game ending with Police leading 3–0.
In an interview after the game, Police VI head coach Shimaka Ngwanaotsile said he came into the game prepared well in terms of blocks, service, reception and defense which are all the basics of game preparation. Without the volleyball basics during training, he said the team could not do anything better during game time.
For his part, Kalavango coach, Kabelo Marumo said the game his boys played against Police was more of a mental game than anything else, adding that he lost the game mentally.
Playing with youngsters who most of them were Form fives, he said they came into the game and looked at Police VI seasoned players and got star struck.
In other male games played at the Lobatse Sports Complex on the same day, Spiking Stars had a double win as they played two games and won both of them. They beat Itekeng 3–2, and played again with Mafolofolo beating them 3–0, while Kutlwano was beaten by Itekeng 3–0. ENDS
