Ms Keitshepile Montsho, a 72-year-old resident of Sehithwa has applauded LIMID for having a huge impact in changing the lives of many Batswana.

Speaking in an interview  recently, Ms Montsho said she was a typical examples of the success of LIMID.

In 2014, she applied for the animal production programme and within a few months she was thoroughly accessed by the department of veterinary services and her application was successful.

“After the department of veterinary services approved my application, we were enrolled in short-time courses and conducted workshops in Maun and Chanoga where we were taught the different aspects of animal rearing/farming, different types of breeds and diseases,” said Ms Montsho.

Ms Montsho was allotted 13 goats, 12 females and one male. She said this programme sheltered her from the claws of poverty as she was able to feed herself and her family.

She explained that she sold some of her stock to local butcheries as well as individuals around Sehithwa where goat meat was high in demand because people relished on it as it was much healthier and lean compared to other beef.

Ms Montsho said her goats were multiplying on a weekly basis and she would forever be thankful to the government of Botswana for improving the lives of the underprivileged.

Since she got help from LIMID Ms Montsho said she was now able to put her children through school and she cooks some of her stock in her catering business which reduces costs.

The business woman explained that to tame goats was not an easy task for a woman her age. She said it was expensive to hire someone to herd her goats. Further, she said herd boys of today were unreliable.
