Boys defeat Stars in constituency football

Boys Boys clobbered Black Stars 3-2 in a constituency competition match played at the Bobonong showground on May 7.

The game started on high tempo with Black Stars winning a lot balls that gave them an early goal in the first minute through Otsile Lekgada.

Black Stars were a better side in the first minutes of the first half and yet they created a lot of chances that went astray.

In the 6th minute Oteng Marakalala of Black Stars received a high cross ball from Mmoloki Otukile but headed wide. Even though he kept on terrorising Boys Boys defence, his chances did not bear fruit in the first half.

Parts of the first half also saw Boys Boys enjoying as well as passing the ball neatly from the back to the centre and playing long balls to their reliable striker Kealeboga Mafifi to pass the Black Stars defence.

In the 19th minute Boys Boys gained momentum and won a free kick which they failed to convert. However, in the 22nd minute Elijah Basinyi of Boys Boys turned the tables with a low shot strike to make it 1-1.

Around the 29th minute the game opened and both teams seemed to have one style of play as their attack came from the middle of the park rather than flanks.

In the 35th minute Tshepiso Masilo of Black Stars received a long pass from Oagile Ramatebele but failed to score. 

But in the 44th minute Kealeboga Mafifi eliminated Black Stars defence one by one and pulled up a trigger to make it 2-1.

After the two sides went into recess with Boys Boys leading 2-1, they emerged from the second stanza showing greater determination and the game tempo picked up.  

Boys Boys came with guns blazing and it was evident that what they wanted was a win, and it did not come as a surprise when in the 70th minute Mafifi scored through a free kick to make it  3-1. Mafifi’s goal changed the flow of the game and the introduction of Ernest Pharithi and Thato Nswakomonye of Black Stars strengthened their attack and started to mount pressure on Boys Boys. 

Around the 73rd minute Stars were a better side and their hard work beard fruit in the 74th minute when Moloko Lesola scored through a low strike to close a 3-1 gap. 

After the game Black Stars coach, Benjamin Vae said he was happy with how the game went.

He added that, lack of concentration from the defence costed them. 

Boys Boys coach, Tshepo Madome said he was happy with the results and players played according to instruction. ENDS
