Academy riders plead for support
10 May 2016
Winners of the Khawa Dune Challenge academy riders category have pleaded with the private sector to sponsor them in order to turn the hobby into employment
Tumelo Manyoro, who took first position, and Lazarus Manyoro said this during an interview after the Khawa dune challenge and culture festival awards ceremony on Saturday.
Lazarus said he appreciated that the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) sponsored motor bike trainings benefited eight others in the village.
He explained that support from the private sector would encourage many young people to do the sport for a living, which he hoped would in the long run alleviate unemployment across the district.
Lazarus added that support would see them evolve to shepherd the venture to long term survival.
Tumelo won P5 000 while Moeti Manyoro got P3 000 and Lazarus walked away with P2 000.
They also won themselves trophies from Kiwasaki while the prize monies came from Debswana.
Kgosi Piet Manyoro was also jubilant that the initiative had produced 10 youthful riders in his village, adding with more support they could go far . ENDS
