Churches need visionary leaders Batshu

09 May 2016

Churches should choose leaders who are visionary and inspired by the word of God.

Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Mr Edwin Batshu, said this at the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) Mogoditshane church building over the weekend.

The minister commended the church for fostering the spirit of peace and harmony.

He further stated that when the penal code was established, the word of God played an important part in informing it hence the church continued to contribute to peace the country enjoyed.

Minister Batshu urged the church that as the nation grows past the 50th anniversary, they should continue supporting pillars such as that of an informed and educated nation as well as a caring and compassionate nation by building more schools, hospitals, churches, helping the needy and defending peace.

Mogoditshane AFM pastor, Mr Mmoloki Mogokgwane said the project was a culmination of many years of praying, preparations, lobbying and perseverance.

He said as a church with integrity, they would commit to doing things in a diligent manner.

He also thanked government for creating an enabling environment for the church to thrive as well as for fighting criminals who used the church to advance their agenda.

Church elder, Mr Onneile Lesego, said the proposed structure would have a seating capacity of 903.

The project would also include facilities such as offices, a kitchen and a bookshop among others at an estimated cost of over P4 million.

AFM Botswana which was originally established in the 1930s was revived in the 1970s, and expanded to different parts of the country. ENDS
