Risk Minds Botswana will hold a convention on finance and risk management (BotsFRC) from May 25 to 26 in Gaborone.

Speaking at a recent press conference, the founder of Risk Minds, Mr Edwin Afitile, said  the convention had a multi-disciplinary focus with the aim of bringing together people from different backgrounds who otherwise might have never had the opportunity to interact and share ideas.

“Secondly, the conventions seeks to build the principles and methodology for what we call 'real world rigor' in decision making and to codify a clear cut way to approach risk and its management," Mr Afitile said.Both finance and risk management span everything we do, from personal decisions to national strategy. Here is an opportunity to come and listen to what can be done to move our Country forward,” he said.

He said the objective of the convention was to influence decision making among all stakeholders by showcasing the latest trends and innovation in finance and risk management.

“Risk management is the line of defence that ensures that whatever strategies we implement in the workplace are marshaled with courage and sobriety knowing where things can go wrong and how to react if they do,” he said.

Mr Afitile said companies could get involved by sponsoring the conference, or even taking an exhibition stand as a way of raising their company profile within the market of a high profile way of select groups of other sponsors, thus creating greater awareness of their brand.Other packages included sponsoring wi-fi access and the provision of reception lunch, which companies might take advantage of, in advertising themselves.
