The game between Township Rollers and Double Action ended in a stalemate in the Women Super League at Mma Masire Grounds on Ascension Day.
The 0-0 deadlock leaves Ma-Double at the summit of the log with 48 points after playing 19 games and winning 15. They have drawn three and lost one.
On position two is Prisons with 47 points out of 20 games. They have won 14, drawn five and registered one loss.
Defending champions, Township Rollers, are on position three with 44 points from 17 games. They have won 14, drawn two and lost one.
It was evident during the game that Ma –Double came determined as they dominated the entire first 20 minutes.
Captain Bonang Otlhagile caused havoc in Popa defence but luck was not on their side as most of their dangerous balls were easily dealt with by Rollers’ experienced keeper Sedilame Bosija.
On the 37th minute, Ma-Double was awarded a free kick in a very good position, which was well taken by Otlhagile. Bosija pulled off great acrobatics and forced a corner, which was put to waste by Double Action players.
The game went to recess with the score board reading 0-0. After the break, Popa ladies came back a better team with both Bame Ngenda and Refilwe Tholakelo attempting to open the score sheet but most of their attempts were wide.
On the other side, Ma-Double continued to move forward looking for an opener but both Ridonah Sefiwa and Otlagile, who had a good game, were let down by poor finishing.
Double Action coach Agreement Podi said most of their dangerous players could not make it to the game because they were still nursing injuries.
He said both teams displayed good football, and congratulated his team for holding Township Rollers.
Rollers coach Gaolethoo Nkulwisang said she was disappointed that they failed to finish Double Action. She said that they had wanted to win the game at all costs.
“The only problem that I have is that my team does not train together as a unit due to different reasons. We are back to the drawing board,” she said. ENDS
