08 May 2016
Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse has commended The World Group of Companies for donating school uniforms to pupils at Gojwane Primary School.
Speaking at the donation ceremony recently, Mr Autlwetse said The World Group of Companies had done a good job in putting smiles on the 365 children at the school.
He said donations have assisted many households who had been having difficulty in purchasing uniforms for their children.
Mr Autlwetse, who is also Member of Parliament for Serowe North constituency, noted that 200 boys each received two pairs of trousers, two shirts, school jersey, two pairs of socks, underwear sets, two vests, a pair of school shoes and a packet of sweets.
He added that 165 girls also received two uniforms each, a school jersey, two shirts, two vests, two pairs of socks, underwear sets, a pair of shoes and a packet of sweets.
That, he said would boost their confidence and motivate them to strive to do better at school.
Thus, he urged parents to take care of the children’s uniform.
On the other hand, he applauded Mr Rafik Sardar, World Group of Companies chairperson for their gesture.
Gojwane Primary School headteacher, Mrs Lefetanye Charlie said the company donation was in line with Vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate and caring nation.
Mrs Charlie thus thanked Mr Autlwetse for pioneering donation to her school, which she said would contribute to improving the school’s performance and motivate pupils to take their studies seriously.
She also said the new uniform had restored confidence in all children at her school.Meanwhile, she indicated that in the 2014, the school had obtained a 60.5 per cent pass rate which increased by four per cent last year.
Such improvement, she said had shown progress in reaching the ministry of education target of higher pass rate.
However, she noted that though they still had a lot of work to do, they had increased the number of A pupils at the school because in 2014, the school registered three As and nine last year.
Kgosi Oagile Ketlhaetse of Gojwane also commended Mr Autlwetse and The World Group of Companies for the donation.
On other issues, he warned against selling donated goods, especially children’s uniform, adding those who would do so would be ‘severely’ punished.
Kgosi Ketlhaetse also noted that the new school uniform donated to Gojwane children would render them all equal in the school.
Further, he said the donations would also motivate pupils to do well in school and realise that education was not about who they were or how they dressed, but to have knowledge and skills to survive in today’s society. ENDS
