Goya commends BOPSSA
08 May 2016
Botswana Primary Schools Sports Association (BOPSSA) has donated a three-roomed house to the Matenge family in Francistown’s Block 7.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony of the house, the Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moiseraela Goya, commended the association for their gesture, which he said was not only in line with Vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate, just and caring nation, but was also in line with the Setswana tradition of good neighbourliness.
Mr Goya said, through the donation, BOPSSA had heeded the Presidential Housing Appeal.
He said government was trying through different programmes to maintain dignity in the citizens by providing shelter and it was through efforts such as those of BOPSSA that it could be possible to reach those who in need of such.
The assistant minister said BOPSSA did not have a lot of money but with the little it had, it managed to share with other people.
BOPSSA president, Mr Busani Segweni, said the association extended the one-roomed house the Matenge family had, fenced the yard and built a toilet.
He applauded companies which assisted his association towards the construction and the furnishing of the house.
A representative of the family, Ms Matilda Matenge thanked BOPSSA for the donation and promised that she would take care of it.
Francistown South MP, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi, thanked BOPSSA for the donation and called on government to support associations such as BOPSSA financially.
He thanked the business community who assisted the association despite the difficult times of not finding it easy to make profit.
Francistown mayor, Ms Sylvia Muzila called on other associations to emulate BOPSSA and assist those in need. ENDS
