Member of Parliament for Ghanzi South Mr Christian De Graaf has urged Ghanzi residents to register horse race associations for the development of the horse race industry in the area.
Mr De Graaf said this last Saturday (April 30) in Charleshill at the first annual Kemsize Charity Horse race event organized by Kemsize Building Constructions and Supply Services. Mr De Graaf indicated that through a registered body, government will be able to assist them in improving the horseracing tracks in the area which eventually will develop the industry in Ghanzi area.
Following concerns from residents of the announcement by Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture Mr Thapelo Olopeng of the horse race track that will be in Palapye, Mr De Graaf notified residents of Ghanzi that he met with the Minister and it was agreed that the residents need to register an association and thereafter establish where they wish to have the horse track in their area which the government will assist in constructing.

Meanwhile, Matebeleng Stable owner Ms Chabo Majaha also encouraged women jockeys saying the horserace sport can also boost them economically. She said despite the challenges that come with maintaining the horse for the race, the sport is profitable.
The organizer of the event Ms Kemodiretse Saidoo who is the owner of Kemsize Building Constructions and Supply Service applauded residents of Charleshill for their impressive turn out for this charity event. she indicated that they will be assisting three needy families in the district, one family with roofing and maintaining the house, the other one to connect electricity while to the third family they will donate bedding.
Saidoo said she and her partners Councilor Shadrack Modisane of Ncojane and Nkgopolang Moabaloso of Kaqcae/Bere will be consulting with the horse owners on how to improve the coming event. Ends
