Kitsong centre benefits Mogale

Ms Olaotse Mogale’s story of being a constant benefactor to an open hearted modern day mother Theresa is not for the faint hearted.
Having been born in a family where parents were always struggling to make ends meet Ms Mogale never thought she would one day turn into an independent giver.
Growing up in Gamodubu in the Kweneng District, Ms Mogale remembers when she had to walk to school to Metsimothabe every day because there was no junior school in Gamodubu.
After not perorming well in JC, Ms Mogale did not give up but instead enrolled with BOCODOL in Gaborone after a good Samaritan motivated her.
Her uncle was more than happy to provide her with accommodation as she had nowhere else to go.
On completing at BOCODOL she. She remembered how the store managers at the time hired her out of their own goodwill as she constantly came to check if there is need for an extra hand.
As time went on she felt the need to go back to school and started saving some money every month. She managed to find a school to do a Certificate in Computer Studies for a year.
In 2013 when Mascom reached out to the Gamodubu residents to apply to run the Mascom Kitsong Centre, Ms Mogale reluctantly applied and as luck would have it Olaotse Mogale was chosen to run the Mascom Kitsong Centre in Gamodubu.
She was taken for training by Mascom where she passed with flying colors. There was now in her a new hunger to excel, work harder and push herself to the limit.
At the beginning of February 2015 she began operation. Mascom provided her with 2 computers, 2 printers, office chairs, a modem for internet, 2 cellphones and a caraven for a place of operation. She was living the dream which many Gamodubu youth would have given anything to have.
Most of her customers are job seekers who come to type and print their Curriculum Vitae and Cover letters.
She has even attracted the attention of nearby villages which include Mmanoko and Mmamohikwa whose residents now come in large numbers in need of the services she provides.
Among other things she helps the community by teaching computer lessons at the local primary school for free as a way of giving back to the community. She even donates computers to the primary school once in a while.
As any business always has its challenges Ms Mogale is constantly being robbed by thieves who come in during the night but is grateful to Mascom who always replaces everything that was stolen.
In future she is planning to utilise the commercial plot which she has already purchased to open up a snack bar in Gamodubu where she will be selling ice-cream, pop corns’ drinks, sweets among others.
“I am a risk taker, that’s why I keep moving forward,” says the 28 year old with a proud smile as she reflects on how far she has come.
Ms Mogale who spends most of her time in the Mascom branded caraven has now become a self-taught ICT technician. ENDS
