Moyagoleele women tear Swallows apart

Gaborone United Ladies Football Club made mince meat of Kanye Swallows Ladies team as they put four past their goal mouth in Botswana National Women’s League encounter in Kanye on Saturday.
GU demonstrated their prowess from the first whistle to the last, as they did not give their opponents a room to play denying them a chance to connect a string of three passes.
The home side could only connect a string of two passes throughout the game as the visitors were too quick to intercept every live wire thus hampering their counterparts to choke them.
Though the game started with a low note and gained momentum as it was getting old, GU strikers were not sitting on their opportunities, but rather were ferociously looking to pocket maximum points.
On the other hand, Swallows strikers were not good enough to break GU’s solid defence. GU’s first goal came through Kaone Tamaki in the middle of the first stanza.
Well, some few minutes later GU scored the second after Kamogelo Omphile received the ball in a good position and did not hesitate but did what she knew best.
Golebaone Selebatso increased the tally in the dying minutes of the first stanza after she maneuvered through Swallows’ shaky defence to put the icing on the cake for her side. At recess GU was leading 3-0. In the opening minutes of the second half Amantle Mapogo sealed the victory of the day with a brilliant pile drive that left her opponents’ defence stunned.
However, in an interview after the game GU’s head coach Paul Mizi said his team played well according to his instructions and commended his team for ball retention and utilisation, noting the two elements are critical in the game of football.
He said the psychological approach of the game for his team is magnificent, but however noted that he needs to work on fitness level of his players to strike a balance between psychological ability and physical aptness.
He also spoke of the need to fine tune his players on ball hitting and control, adding such a move would enhance accuracy on both receive and pass mode as well as in target shooting
Kanye Swallows head coach Kgomotso Teofhelo said he had a mammoth task to build a pool of quality players who can replace each other during injuries.
He said school commitment for his team is posing a challenge as training sessions in some instances are halted.
He decried lack of consistence in ball retention for his players, adding that their fitness is not stable.ENDS
