Kanye Extension Gunners supporters branch will on Saturday April 23 treat soccer lovers to a one day eight - team tournament.

Speaking in an interview in Kanye, the branch public relations officer Mothusi Basitang said the tournament would bring together Jwaneng, Lobatse, Molepolole, Kanye and three other teams from Gaborone. The eighth team still has to confirm its participation.

He said the object of the tournament, which he described as the first of its kind, had to raise funds to launch the newly registered Kanye branch and mobilise grassroots support for the club.

He said each team had contributed a registration fee of P100 to join the competition which would be played at both Seepapitso and Matsaakgang sports grounds.

He said they would also sell food to spectators with a view to augment the funds.

Basitang further revealed that they had a promotion whose winner would walk away with the new team t-shirt on that day.

He said they were also planning to have another competition where the lucky supporter would win the team's track suit during the club’s awards dinner to be held in Gaborone early June.

Basitang has thus challenged Gunners diehards to come in large numbers to support the initiative.

The finals will be played at Matsaakgang sports grounds while the eventual winner will get a floating trophy.

Extension Gunners chairperson Phenyo Gothaang is expected to grace the event. ENDS
