Softball league gains momentum

12 Apr 2016

It was a weekend of upsets and surprises in the BoFiNet Softball League top eight games where the finest four teams from both men and women booked themselves places in the championship.

Ladies defending champions, Wells received the biggest upset of the tournament as they were knocked out after finishing in position six.

Police ladies finished at the top of the log hence qualifying for the top four as they will be joined by Panthers who have gone on a top four dry spell for a very long time.

Dinare and Rail Giants complete the ladies pack upon both finishing in second spots in Bracket 1 and 2.

In the men’s category, defending champions BDF were on another level winning all their Bracket 2 games hence closing it down at the summit of the log.

In their last encounter against Comets, the army boys won 5-1 after both teams starting on a slow pace of which BDF registered a run in the third inning by Jasffet Seakane.

The second run came in the fourth inning through Mojamorago Speckson, who was sailed by Archie Seetapele’s smack to the fence.

Comets second base seemed to be having a bad fielding day as he failed to glove easy balls that saw BDF score a third point by Raven Palai in the sixth inning.

Obonetse Makala followed suit and scored through a pass ball while the highlight of the game came from Seetapele; smacking a homerun over the fence.

Comets registered the long awaited consolation run in the sixth inning by Thabang Tsipa but it was too late for redemption as the game wrapped up with a 5-1.

BDF will be joined by Wells, Rail Giants and another surprise package Gatalamotho who have been on a top four dry spell.

The Championship is scheduled for April 22-23 at the National Diamond where the Champions will walk away with P100 000 cash prize.  ENDS
