Innovations to reform government business
13 May 2013
Innovations showcased at the Ministry for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration mini convention will go a long way in reforming the way government conducts its business.
Speaking during the mini convention in Gaborone on Monday, Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi said he was proud of the innovations and creativity that went into the design of the projects exhibited.
He said such would enable the Ministry of State President to appreciate the initiatives prior to the national convention scheduled for June.
The exhibitions, he said, provided an opportunity for the ministry to give feedback to the officers responsible for the various projects exhibited, so that in June they showcase what had been agreed upon by the ministry.
Minister Masisi stated that the purpose of the mini convention was to provide departments within the Ministry of State President with an opportunity to showcase breakthrough innovations in improving service delivery through the use of e-government.
The objective of the convention was also to create a platform to foster the spirit of teamwork among departments within the ministry, by engaging in interactive team building fun games.
The theme for this year’s Public Service Day (PSD) celebrations and convention: e-government: A Key to Efficient and Effective Service Delivery, he said, had been adopted for the mini convention to enable the ministry to prepare for the upcoming major PSD celebrations.
The mini convention activities included aerobics and races such as balloon, chest, orange, ball, egg race, sack race and relay as well as tug of war, among others.
The overall winner was the Office of the Ombudsman, which snatched position one, followed by Department of Public Service Management, while Office of the President and Auditor General both grabbed position three, with Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime as well as National Aids Coordinating Agency trailing behind in position four.
