Border fence middle of Limpopo River
10 Apr 2016
The Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Prince Maele says the section of the Botswna and South Africa boundary from Sikwane to Phala Camp is the middle of the Limpopo River.
Mr Maele noted that it would not be easy to construct a fence along the boundary line.
He said attempting to offset the fence from the river would deny access by Batswana to the river and the piece of land between the fence and the river.
Minister Maele said his ministry was working with other stakeholders to facilitate the construction and maintenance of a border patrol road which would be used by responsible authorities to patrol the border and curb cross border theft.
The Member of Parliament for Mochudi East, Mr Isaac Davids had asked the minister when he would erect a fence along the South Africa and Botswana border to curb cross border theft and illegal crossings. Ends
