The  senior women national football team takes on Banyana Banyana of South Africa in an AFCON qualifier in Lobatse tomorrow. A lot would be at stake; bragging rights. And the female Zebras would surely kick hard to end South Africa’s dominance over them.
In addition to that, Botswana women never qualified for AFCON  and this is the time to make amends. To qualify, they would have to beat Banyana home and away.

Possible first eleven

In goalkeeping, coach Gaolethoo Nkutlwisang would depend on Sedilame Bosija. She has proved overtime to be versatile and when chips are down, she has a big heart to deal with one on one situations.

Kgomotso Molefe is one of the fearless and solid players at the back. The vice captain’s experience in the national team would come in handy. Gaolethoo might also depend on Masego Montsho, Tlamelo Motlhale, Kesegofetse Mochawe to build a solid defence that could deny Banyana room to manoeuvre.

Captain Bonang Otlhagile is still suspect and the technical team is waiting a medical report concerning her injury. Should she play,  she might partner with Lebogang Setereke, and Refilwe Tholakelo would play in front of them.

Depending on the formation, Bame Ngenda, Nondi Mahlasela and Thuto Ramafifi might be used to attack Banyana. Forget that Banyana Banyana, beat female Zebras 6-0 on aggregate in the All Africa Games qualifiers last year, the visitors might be in for a rude awakening. Kick-off time 4pm and entrance is free.
