Minister not aware of Dukwi workload

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Frans Van Der Westhuizen, says Dukwi Customary Court has a senior tribal authority, headman of records and two headman of records who were adequate for the population of 3 438 in Dukwi as per the 2011 population census.
Responding to a question in Parliament on Wednesday, Mr Van Der Westhuizen said his ministry was not aware of the workload at Dukwi Customary Court as in 2014, the court recorded 202 cases and 162 in 2015. He said from January this year to date, Dukwi Customary Court recorded 32 criminal cases only.
MP for Nata-Gweta Mr Polson Majaga had asked the minister if he was aware that there was a huge workload at Dukwi Customary Court and if so, would he consider employing an additional Kgosi. Ends
