No tender for wet grading
05 Apr 2016
The Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo says his ministry has never issued a tender for wet grading or maintenance of the road between Mmea and Mokubilo since 2011 when the road was taken from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
However, Mr Mabeo said the road has been dry graded once every two months by the in-house team.
“We have planned to continue dry grading it that way for the current financial year. This road was last dry graded in January 2016,” the minister said.
Mr Mabeo also explained that the road had neither been included for construction in the ESP nor the current development plan or the upcoming National Development Plan (NDP) 11.
Boteti East MP, Mr Setlhomo Lelatisitswe had requested the minister to state details concerning the last wet grading tender that was to be done for the 18 kilometre road.
The MP also wanted to know whether there was any plan to construct the road under the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP). Ends
