Under 19 Softball team readying for Michigan meet

The Botswana Junior softball team was last week camping in Mmadinare as part of preparations for the 11th Junior Men World Baseball Softball Confederation-Softball Division World Championship Games scheduled for July 22-30 in Midland, Michigan.
In an interview, Botswana Softball Association official Kelebogile Seitei said the International Softball Federation Junior Men’s World Championship is a fast pitch tournament for age 19-and-under national teams held every two years.
She said 16 countries would be participating and Africa was represented by Botswana and South Africa. The defending champions are Argentina.
Seitei said players who were called to camp were selected from the 2015 Botswana Games and at the moment they have 37players and they would disperse from the camp on Monday.
However, she said the number would be trimmed down to 17 players who would then represent the country. She noted that the last time Botswana took part was in 2009.
She explained that the team’s technical team included Letsweletse Jonas as team Manager, Basiami Molatlhiwa as head coach assisted by Tony Moyo, Misael Thompson and Otimile Tapiso. Ends
