Ministry to hold symposium on sustainable finance

The Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism in collaboration with UNDP will hold a national symposium on sustainable finance on Thursday.

A press release from the ministry states that the symposium wil be officially opened by the Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism, Mr Tshekedi Khama and some speakers such as the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Vincent Seretse as well as the Bank of Botswana governor, Ms Linah Mhohlo.

The release says the symposium will be held at the Gaborone International Conference Centre under the theme: Business success and national resilience through sustainable finance.

It further sates that the national symposium on sustainable finance will serve as a platform for broader dialogue among actors in the finance sector and related stakeholders.

It says the symposium will also serve to identify entry points and initiatives that jointly address private sector and government agendas for win-win outcomes across commercial, social and environment interests.

The press release says the symposium will be run in the context of domesticating the global Sustainable Development Goals (SGD) agenda by integrating them into Vision 2036 and NDP11 preparation processes and the national framework for sustainable development.

The release says the symposium will be attended by CEOs and portfolio managers in the financial services sector as well as executives of relevant government ministries, civil society and development partners. Ends
