Sign language musk know for nurses

31 Mar 2016

A person living with disability, Ms Selekanyo Kelesitse has advised nurses to learn sign language.

Speaking during a Botsogo Pitso in Molapowabojang yesterday, Ms Kelesitse explained that learning sign language would enhance health service provision.

Ms Selekanyo decried that without sign language some health service providers often times had limitations trying to assist patients with a speaking disability.

On other issues a senior health officer from the Lobatse District Health Management Team (DHMT) Dr Christopher Muzungaire shared that four staff houses would be built in the village through the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP).

He expressed joy that the move would address shortage of staff accommodation in the area and hopefully bring more nurses.

Dr Christopher explained that they would continue to improve the provision of health services through stakeholder involvement.

Another officer, Mr Abel Chunga encouraged residents to adhere to medication schedule particularly those on anti-retroviral treatment.

He raised a concern that some people usually defaulted as a result of alcohol abuse. He has thus advised partners to encourage each other to take medication as specified by the doctor.

For his part, Molapowabojang East CIIr Mr Calvin Matlale applauded nurses for their active role in serving the community. However, he complained that the delay in the provision of mobile dental health care service to the village was a cause for concern.

He said some patients were often made to wait for too long for the service. ENDS
