First division south heads for photo finish
23 Mar 2016
A fiery photo finish is looming in the Debswana First Division South league with at least four teams vying for honours.
Black Forest, Rolling Boys, Uniao Flamingo Santos and Notwane all go into this weekend’s Easter break with hopes of pulling a surprise when the league resumes. Four games remain before this year’s champions are announced.
Though Black Forest are perched at the summit of the log with 38 points, Rolling Boys are heavily breathing on their necks with three points separating them.
Third placed Uniao Flamingo Santos are just one point ahead of Notwane.
Black Forest was in a mean mood against last season’s playoff finalists Mogoditshane Fighters and put two goals past the visiting side.
Though it remains a tight affair at the top of the log, it would be exciting to see whether Black Forest would let victory elude them after narrowly failing to qualify for the playoffs last season. Rolling Boys inched to the second spot after a one sided affair against Letlapeng.
The final score was four for the hard working youthful side against Letlapeng’s solitary strike. Santos were lucky to come out with maximum points against a rejuvenated Prisons IX who are fighting tooth and nail to avoid the dreaded relegation axe.
Notwane also negotiated a 2-0 victory against bottom place Black Rangers.
Modipane revived their hopes of surviving the axe by beating Sharps Electrical 2-0. The visiting side’s victory also denied Sharps a chance to inch closer to the top four bracket going into the Easter break. Ends
