White City Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) church youth have been urged to resist negative peer pressure because it is dangerous to their lives.

Speaking at the end of the church’s sponsored walk that was part of the Month of Youth Against AIDS (MYAA) on Saturday, Francistown High Court Judge, Justice Zibani Makhwade implored   young people to do what is best for them to make the world a better place.

Justice Makhwade appreciated the sponsored walk initiative by the young people saying raising funds to run programmes aimed at grooming the other youth is proof that AFM youth are part of the society.

He said the walk also gave walkers the opportunity to exercise and even share HIV/AIDS messages.

Justice Makhwade encouraged the youth to continue to remember those who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

He said AIDS was a threat to development because it was killing the most active group, who were also the country’s future leaders.

Justice Makhwade also appealed to  young people to be the ambassadors of Christ and urged them to practise what they preach.

He pledged amount of P1 000 and encouraged young people to be well disciplined as young pastors so that they try and reach out to people who are less- privileged in  society.

Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture coordinator Ms Minkie Bokole explained that peer pressure is dynamic looking to the fact that young people are living in a world full of technology.

She encouraged young people to be grateful and enjoy their youth but at the same time should protect themselves against HIV/AIDS.

Ms Bokole said young people were  most affected by HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Infections and she called for behavioural change towards issues of sexuality.

AFM National Youth chairperson, Pastor Prince Fulu said the objective of the walk was to raise funds to be able to run the national youth programme which is aimed at grooming youth, completing a destitute project and raising awareness on issues pertaining to HIV/AIDS. Ends
