Medical group gets financial boost
09 May 2013
Medical Practitioner’s Group of Botswana (MPG), on Tuesday, received P150 000 from Botswana Public Officers’ Medical Aid Scheme (BPOMAS).
Associated Fund Administrators (AFA) acting managing director, Mr Duncan Thela told a press conference that the donation was meant to assist the less privileged in the society and would also strengthen partnership that had been existing between the two entities.
Mr Thela, whose company also administered Pula Medical Aid Fund, thanked MPG for affording them an opportunity to once again sponsor this year’s MPG dinner dance billed for Gaborone Sun on May 25.
MPG chairperson, Dr Anthony Sibiya said the anticipated dinner, sponsored by BPOMAS, would afford members opportunity to interact with each other and meet other stakeholders in health and non-health sectors to share knowledge and exchange ideas.
He noted that MPG, which mainly comprised private medical practitioners, existed to ensure that proper administration of medical procedures and ethics were followed, relied on members’ subscriptions and held annual dinner dance to raise funds for charity and other community projects.
Dr Sibiya, however said he was happy that many companies had extended a good and encouraging gesture by purchasing tickets for the expected dinner. ENDS
