Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Prince Maele, says his ministry is accelerating the servicing of plots in Sowa Township that will release more plots for developmental houses.

Answering a question in parliament on Wednesday, minister Maele said Botswana Housing Corporation was currently looking into the possibility of developing its commercial plot in Sowa with a view to accommodating commercial and other interested entities in Sowa on a rental basis.

Furthermore, he said government would explore the possibility of engaging the private sector for infrastructure development.

“It is our belief that with improved infrastructure, private investors may be attracted to invest in commercial development in future,” he said.

Member of Parliament for Nata-Gweta Mr Polson Majaga had wanted the minister to state if he was aware that there was a serious shortage of BHC houses in Sowa Town (residential and commercial), and whether it was not time for BHC to construct some houses and offices for the town. Ends
