LKC Jaguars maintain flying start

20 Mar 2016

LKC Jaguars manager, Feddy Mutenhuri, says his team will continue keeping modest ambitions, despite their flying start to the rugby top flight season.

The Jaguars clobbered Mochudi Rugby Club 88-11 at Livingstone Kolobeng College ground on Saturday to maintain their lead at the top of the A-Division with 10 points from two matches.

It was the second match in a row they handed opponents a heavy defeat after thrashing Botho Ryders 93-0 last weekend.

Jaguars played a fast game and scored a total of 14 tries to cruise to easy victory in their one-sided match against Mochudi, leaving Mutenhuri satisfied with his team’s performance.

“We continued from where we left off against Ryders last week. I think our boys are quickly getting used to our game, which is the fast and continuous game which obviously is bringing us results. However, we are a new team and we do not want to be too ambitious.

We will maintain our modest objectives, which is to get to the semifinals then whatever happens thereafter will be fine with us,” Mutenhuri said.

It is Jaguars’ second season in the A-Division. They took the league by storm last year by reaching the final in their maiden season. ……said he is impressed with his team’s performance in the league thus far.

“I am impressed with how we have started the season even though there are a few areas we have to strengthen before getting into other games which will be tougher,” Mutenhuri said.

Jaguars camped inside Mochudi half from the onset and scored their first try through Frank Maposa in the seventh minute. From that point onwards the floodgates opened with the visitors no match for the Jaguars rampant packs lead by speedy flanker Maatla Rabasima.

They scored a further six tries to go to halftime leading 45-0. Mochudi got their name in the score sheet through a penalty scored by Kago Moatshe early in the second half, but Jaguars tightened their grip into the match with seven more tries to run out comfortable winners. They have now scored 181 points in two matches while conceding 11 only.

The second A-Division match between BDF Cheetahs and Ryders was not played because Ryders failed to bring a full team. Cheetahs was awarded a 28-0 victory.

In the reserve league match BDF Cheetahs defeated BIUST 31-5. In the women’s league matches BCA defeated Molepolole Rugby Club 27-0 while Ryders beat UB Rhinos 17-0. Ends
