Francistown prepares for AFCON qualifier

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) held a press conference in Francistown on Monday (March 14) to launch the men’s senior national team match against Comoros.
BFA chief, Kitso Kemoeng, said the match was billed for March 27 at Francistown Sports Complex at 4pm.
However, The Zebras would first leave for Comoros Island on March 22 for the first leg of the Africa Cup of Nations Cup (AFCON) qualifier billed for March 24.
Kemoeng indicated that the Zebras would undergo a three-day camp in Francistown to prepare for the qualifiers; after which the camp will break for players to return to their clubs to play the league matches scheduled for the weekend.
On Sunday, the team would reunite for the final preparations. The tickets will be sold at several outlets throughout the country in places including Francistown. Kemoeng said they increased the sales outlets to curb long queues.
Furthermore he urged Batswana to buy tickets on time to avoid overcrowding.
Kemoeng acknowledged the support of the Local Organising Committee, government, Botswana National Sports Commission, corporate sector and other stakeholders for making the environment conducive for the Zebras to perform to their full potential.
Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee, Eatametse Olopeng, said they had been attending meetings to prepare for the game.
Olopeng appealed for good conduct since the roads in the northern city were under maintenance.
Allison Mbaiwa of Botswana Police Service said they were ready for the game to curb any misconduct within and outside the stadium.
