Ministry addresses stationery avaliability

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso says the procurement process for stationery and equipment for the 2016 school year started in December 2015.
“As from 18th to 23rd February 2016, companies started delivering stationery to Selebi Phikwe Town Council. To date, the council has distributed 61 902 out of a total of 63 882 items and 20 192 out of a total of 29 946 instructional materials for all classes (from reception up to Standard Seven).”
According to the distribution plan, she said the last consignment would be delivered to primary schools at the end of the week of the 13th March 2016.
The Member of Parliament for Selebi Phikwe West, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had asked the minister to update Parliament on the availability of textbooks, stationery, teaching materials and equipment at Selebi Phikwe primary schools.
He also asked the minister to explain how the challenges encountered were being addressed, including the timeline. Ends
