Creating more job opportunities a challenge - Goya

07 Mar 2016

The Centre for Business and Secretariat Training (CBST) hosted their second graduation ceremony to bid farewell to its participants recently.

The graduation ceremony, which was hosted at Adansonia Hotel in Francistown, was graced by Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development (MoESD), Mr Moiseraele Goya.

Mr Goya said the government had done all it could to save jobs despite the challenge of declining diamond revenue.

“The biggest problem however lies in creating more job opportunities to absorb the growing number of young job seekers,” he said.

He further urged graduates to be more innovative and take brave decisions to overcome poverty and create employment.

In addition, he said the government has financial schemes aimed at empowering people especially the youth and women.

Francistown deputy city clerk, Mr Robert Letlole said the youth faced the challenge of unemployment and that they should take advantage of government programmes.

Since the college offered programmes that mostly deal with business, Mr Letlole said he wished the programmes in the college would increase to cater for more youth.

On the other hand, Ms Constance Banda, the principal of CSBT College stated that they opened in 2007 with only 25 participants who were engaged in community service when it started.

She noted that CBST worked with Francistown East MP, Mr Buti Billy in 2013 who was the councillor for Satellite South.

Ms Banda said the college has made a difference for the previous participants as some were able to come up with their own businesses after working with the Department of Gender Affairs and the Local Enterprise Authority (LEA).

She applauded Mr Billy for making the programme a success and CBST College in training the people. Ends
