Legendary club re-opens

07 May 2013

The excitement on Saturday morning in Maun did not need a genius to figure out what was happening in the village.

All the signs were there for everyone to notice that Maun’s popular night club, Trekkers, was back after closing down four months for renovations.

As the club turns a new page in its rich existence since it was established many years ago, a wave of a ‘new Trekkers’ fever seems to have hit locals and the many tourists who frequent this village-cum-town.

Situated in the heart of Maun, Trekkers Nite Club has undoubtedly been the pulse of nightlife in the tourist village for years and since it was closed for renovations things had never been the same.

“The club will always have a special place in the hearts of the community of Maun and we will work hard to recapture its rightful place,” says the club’s manager, Mogomotsi Masole in an interview.

With another club dubbed Fresh Exclusive having opened its doors recently in Maun, Masole is not perturbed saying competition is always good as it brings out the best in people.

He is confident that the market in the village is enough for the two clubs to survive side by side and even surpass their targets. “The sole reason why we closed the club down was because we wanted to change the interior decoration to give it a more modern and appealing look,” says the club operator.

The entertainer says they have altered the DJ booth, lounge area, the bars and the lighting. Masole says they are not particular about who frequent the revamped club so long as they are old enough to qualify for admission.

“If one wants to have a good time and they are old enough, then Trekkers is the place to go” he says with a chuckle, adding that they will strive to provide their customers with quality service.

Masole says they have also seen it fit to up the security so as to give people the utmost peace of mind so they can enjoy themselves without having to worry about any danger. He further said people should note that the grand opening will possibly be end of May.

With entertainment a big part of Maun, Trekkers looks set to continue giving locals and their visitors the experience of a lifetime. ENDS
