The assistant district commissioner for Ngamiland, Mr Ramogaupi Gaborekwe, has commended Saverite Supermarket owners; Ms Keethabanye Wright and Mr Andrew Wright, for creating employment and giving Disaneng ward residents shopping convenience.
The newly opened shop, situated at Disaneng ward in Maun, is the first Saverite Supermarket in Ngamiland.
Officially opening the supermarket formerly known as Darknote recently, Mr Gaborekwe said the 19 youths that the shop employed would be able to support their families and help reduce poverty.
Mr Gaborekwe encouraged the Wright family to train their employees to be more effective.
“For any business to succeed, it is imperative to develop its employees,” he said.
A Trident and Saverite representative from Maun, Mr Petrus Matengani said Saverite assisted the owners to enjoy competitive advantage, with prices that at par with those of large retailers.
He expressed hope that the store would spread to other areas such as Okavango.
For his part, KBL district manager, Mr Gakenosi Mpho, said KBL provided mentorship and business skills to small supermarkets on request.
“To attain great heights, all have to start small,” he said.
He implored other Disaneng residents to bring other businesses to the shopping complex.
In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Tatlhego Repheya said Saverite Supermarket would ensure that his residents do not incur transport costs to shops.
Kgosi Repheya urged Disaneng residents to support the Wright family by buying from the store. Ends
