Botswana Premier League Disciplinary Committee Chairperson Busang Manewe has advised the BPL from soiling their hands in dispute between clubs.
BPL had on Thursday had asked for a joinder in a matter between Mochudi Centre Chiefs regarding Ofentse Nato registration.
Manewe said the rules envisage a situation whereby a dispute may arise between clubs on the one hand as between a club and Premier League.
He said the Ofentse Nato issue was between the two clubs, and it is their view that the dispute should be left to the two parties without interference from the BPL.
“If the Premier League wants to be involved in any matter, they should come in to prosecute offenders with a view to instilling discipline in the league, it is in our views not desirable to have the premier league descend into dispute between clubs,” he said.
Manewe further said when the premier league entangles itself into such disputes, it taints the credibility of the league because it was bound to take standpoint that favours one of the teams.
He said by doing so the BPL would have put themselves in an unenviable position, and a perception would be created that the office was not an impartial body but favours some clubs.
The BPL DC chairperson further said it was critical for the premier league to maintain its integrity and neutrality by not being involved as parties to conflicts between clubs.
He however said that this does not take away the right and power of the Premier League to prosecute whichever team they believe has misconducted itself, therefore they had refused the joinder of the BPL on Thursday.
The BPL, he said had a duty to ensure that they assist the disciplinary committee by participating in the proceedings as witnesses in order to advice the committee of what happened in respect of any registration that forms the basis of a protest.
“It will be a dark cloud for our football if the premier league decides not to respect the decision of this committee simply because we have turned down this application, quite clearly this attitude wiitch breed chaos and disorder in the league, he said. Ends
