Moatlhodi Ralesotla’s strike in the 56th minute separated Gaborone United and Green Lovers in a be MOBILE Premiership encounter at the National Stadium on Saturday.
Ralesotla, who joined Gaborone United this season from Green Lovers, showed no mercy for his first love, as he was the only player terrorising them, but failed to convert some of the golden scoring opportunities.
GU could have scored an opener after Karabo Phiri unleashed a killer pass to Namibian international, Benson Shilongo, but the ball went wide.
Immediately after that attack, Green Lovers had their share in the but then again Tumo Keiketlile shot wide.
GU continued with their attack, searching for an opening goal of the the day, but their players Shilongo and Obonwe Maome were unlucky on the day as their balls went wide or their hard work was denied by the wood work.
The game went into a recess with a stalemate, but after the break, GU introduced Hendrick Moyo for Maome.
In the 64th minute, Lovers pulled out Mbakanyi Mafika and Matthews Moruti and introduced Pako Botshelo and Gofaone Moreba.
It was Botshelo who managed to change the tempo of the game and dismantle GU’s midfield.
However, Moyagoleele care-taker coach, Stephen Maposa did not allow Botshelo to toss around with his midfield as he immediately pulled Karabo Phiri out and introduced Alphonse Modisaotsile who undoubtedly stablised the middle of the park.
In the 56th minute of the game, GU were awarded a free kick outside the 18th area, which was well taken by Ralesotla, to make it 1-0. Green Lovers tried hard to relaliate, but they were unlucky as their shot on targets were denied by GU keeper Michael Pepukani. And the game ended with GU despite not playing good football earning three valuable points
Now, Ralesotla’s goals means the race for the green boot intensifies given that he has so far scored 13 goals whereas both Segolame Boy of Township Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs Lemponye Tshireletso have 14 goals. Ends
