Mamoja Diski hold on to second spot

29 Feb 2016

Francistown Debswana First Division North outfit, Ecco City Greens have held on to their newly acquired second position status in the competitive league by walloping fellow city rivals TASC 2-0 in a game played on Sunday afternoon.

The win comes after another victory last weekend, which saw Ecco topple Sua Flamingoes from the second spot after beating them 1-0.

Ecco now with 32 points, are four points behind log leaders Mahalapye Hotspurs, who huffed and puffed to salvage a nil all draw against Great North Tigers (GNT) on Saturday.

In the encounter against TASC, Mamoja Diski led by inspirational captain Nicholas ‘Mambush’ Matlhare proved early in the game that they would be no match to TASC, with the likes of Onkemetse ‘Manando’ Powe and Oarabile Powe mesmerising the opposition defence.

TASC skillfull players such as Oratile Taunyane, Lucas Motlhabane and Kabo Montlenyane found the going very tough as ECCO defence manned by the newly acquired Mosimanegape Mokiya and Walter Moyo proved to be tough to penetrate.

Ecco used wing play to cause much of the damage to TASC but most of their marauding attacks could not bear any fruit in the first half.

In the second half, TASC came in with a sense of urgency and in the 51st minute, Kitso Malope got a clear cut chance but shot a tame shot, which was easily saved by Innocent Selebogo.

Ecco opened the score sheet on the 55th minute when a brilliant cross sent into the box met an unmarked Oarabile Powe who headed in a brilliant goal, beating Kutlo Motshwaedi in TASC’s posts.

Ecco wrapped up the game on the 89th minute when substitute, Mofokeng managed to sneak in a goal after a great Matlhare cross into the box.  Ends
