Ministry processing tenders for land servicing
28 Feb 2016
The Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Prince Maele says the Chobe Land Board allocated 40 and 66 agro-industrial plots in Pandamantenga and Lesoma respectively in 2013. He said all the 106 plots were not serviced in terms of provision of roads, water and electricity.
Mr Maele said out of the 106 plots, only two, one at Pandamatenga and the other at Lesoma were developed, and that the remaining 104 plots were not developed as a result of lack of services in the two industrial areas. “As part of the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP), my ministry is currently processing tenders for minimal servicing for both industrial and residential plots in some parts of Chobe District and this includes the servicing of 444 plots in Lesoma,” he said. T
he MP for Chobe, Mr Ronald Shamukuni had asked the minister to state the number of agro-industrial plots that have been allocated in Lesoma/Pandamatenga area, and how many of these have been serviced in terms of provision of roads, water and electricity. He also asked how many have failed to honour the development covenant as a result of lack of services in the said industrial areas, and when the minister intends to service this industrial area to facilitate speedy investment in the area.
