Minister aware of untarred roads in Francistown
25 Feb 2016
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso says she is aware that some roads in Gerald Estates, Selepa and Donga locations in Francistown are not tarred. Ms Tshireletso said the ministry, through the Francistown City Council, has not been able to construct tarred roads and install streets lights in the locations due to budgetary constraints.
She said the project would be considered with other competing projects for inclusion in NDP11, adding that Tati Customary Court officials were using portable camp caravans for office accommodation.
She also noted that the office structure was boarded on account of structural defects which could not be solved through renovation as the problem emanated from the terrain and soil type in the area.
Ms Tshireletso further said that in light of the foregoing, the reconstruction of the building was being proposed for consideration during NDP11 together with other competing priorities.
The Member of Parliament for Francistown West, Mr Ignatius Moswaane had wanted to know if the minister was aware that some old locations in Francistown were not tarred, and if there was any plan to construct tarred roads and install street lights in the locations.
He also wanted to know why the Francistown City Council was failing to provide services to Gerald Estates residents. Ends
