BDF XI eye fourth successive win
24 Feb 2016
BDF XI are targeting their four successive win in the beMOBILE Premiership when they clash with Gilport Lions this evening.
Fourth placed Matebele host the Lions at Molepolole Sports Complex and the clubs’ public relations officer, Captain Thusang Jacob insisted that they will grab all three points.
Jacob says their preparations for the match have gone according to plan after last weekend’s hard fought Mascom Top 8 semi-final draw against Orapa United.
“The team has recovered from the weekend match and we are ready to continue challenging teams ahead of us in the league,” the Matebele mouthpiece stated.
BDF XI go into the encounter in a fine form after three successive league victories over Sankoyo Bush Bucks, Motlakase Power Dynamos and BR Highlanders, netting 12 goals in the process.
“We have started scoring goals which was a major problem for us in the first round. We are confident now that we can win every match.
Our new signing, Sadiki Takunda will complement Patrick Kaunda upfront.
We have also stabilised the defence by signing Keolopile Molemi,” Jacob said.
The Lions defence will need to be at its best to stop the marauding BDF XI attack led by Kaunda who found the net against Orapa United last weekend.
The Zambian is ably supported by Khumbulani Madziba who has five league goals and Keeagile Kobe who has found the net on six occasions.
Jacob said Matebele are not gunning for the premiership title: “Our objective is to rebuild the team after bringing in many new players and employing a new coach.
We are happy with the progress we have made and believe that we would challenge strongly for the league next season.”
The Lions are aiming to bounce back from their 3-0 defeat at the hands of Township Rollers in their previous match.
They are currently sitting on the 13th position, six points above the relegation zone.
The Lions will be banking on the attacking trio of Tendai Nyamadzawo who has hit 10 league goals, Kabelano Mooketsane (seven goals) and the ever green Kenanao Kgetholetsile.
BDF XI won the first round match 1-0.

On Saturday, Jwaneng Galaxy will welcome struggling Motlakase Power Dynamos at Galaxy Stadium, relegation haunted FC Satmos face log-leaders Township Rollers at Selebi Phikwe Stadium while Extension Gunners meet Police XI at Lobatse Stadium.
