No plans to connect water to CKGR

There are no plans to connect water to homesteads in the Central Kgalagadi Game Reserve (CKGR).
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said however the ministry, through the Ghanzi District Council, recently started to provide CKGR residents with water.
“The arrangement is based on the government’s decision to assist CKGR residents in view of the identified difficulties they face. The water is provided in 10 000 litres and 5 000 litre tanks, and it is a short-term measure which will be in place until a long-term solution is found,” she said.
The MP for Ghanzi North, Mr Noah Salakae had asked if there were any plans to connect water to homesteads in the CKGR. He also wanted to know when the project would commence. ENDS
