Makgophe unwinds with police officers
23 Feb 2016
The Commissioner of Botswana Police Service, Mr Keabetswe Makgophe says there is need for police officers to unwind after a long and energy sapping conference so that they can rejuvenate their energies.
Speaking during a reception he hosted for attendees of the just ended 44th Botswana Police Senior Officers Annual Conference in Gaborone, Mr Makgophe said coming together in a more leisurely way was crucial as it built team spirit.
He said the officers were able to effectively review and evaluate their 2015 national assignment, and that they came up with sound resolutions aimed at addressing some nagging and persistent crime problems facing Batswana.
Mr Makgophe added that as the country was preparing to celebrate its 50th independence anniversary, it was imperative that the police soldier on and commit themselves to ensure public safety, which is one of their top priorities.
Having worked sleepless nights for the past five days, he said it was now time for them to freely and informally interact and discuss issues in a laid back atmosphere coupled with music and banquet.
The police, together with Mr Makgophe, found the opportunity to get more personal on a social note with other police officers.
On their private clothes, especially suits, the police looked like a different set of people and they came together and chatted with members of society and the media. Ends
