Orapa United coach, Madinda Ndlovu, is confident of victory against BDF XI in the Mascom Top 8 semi final first leg tomorrow (February 20).
The Ostriches host Matebele at Itekeng Stadium as they attempt to reach the first cup final in their history. The two teams have met on two occasions this season, with BDF XI winning the first round league encounter 2-0 in August while United claimed a 1-0 victory over Matebele in December at Itekeng.
Ndlovu told BOPA in an interview that the Ostriches were aiming to complete another victory over the army side on Saturday. “We shocked them in the second round of the league by winning 1-0. The plan is to complete the mission with another upset over BDF XI and proceed to the next stage,” Ndlovu said.
Ndlovu, who lost the Mascom Top 8 final last season with Township Rollers, said United’s players are all available for selection. Speaking ahead of the game, United’s captain Thabang Mosige said they will fight with everything to win the match convincingly and go into the second round at Francistown Sports Complex with favourable goals.
“It is going to be an exciting match. We just have to focus on our game and make sure we implement our game plan. They have a good squad and beating them will not be easy. However, if you look at our team, we have the potential to win every game we play,” Mosige said.
The Ostriches have been solid this season as they have tasted defeat only once in all games they have played so far. BDF XI however comes into the match with confidence soaring after their 3-1 hammering of Sankoyo Bush Bucks while the Ostriches handed Miscellaneous a 2-0 defeat. Ends
