MYSC seeks employment opportunites
17 Feb 2016
Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture continues to look for employment opportunities for young people to alleviate the high rate of unemployment among the young. This was said by the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Thapelo Olopeng, when responding to a question in parliament from Gaborone North MP, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa.
“We therefore recognise that business Process Outsourcing , particularly Call Centre, would be a big opportunity for the employment of young people,” he said.“We have held discussions with Botswana Investment and Trade Centre to explore the possibility of bringing companies, which deal with Call Centres to set up shop here as these would employ a significant number of young people,” he added.
Furthermore, he said his ministry had and would continue to engage different stakeholders to explore employment possibilities and this included lobbying international companies to set up businesses in Botswana so that they could create jobs for our youth.Mr Nkaigwa had asked Mr Olopeng what government was doing to promote the establishment of business process outsourcing for the creation of jobs for the youth.
