Urban designs hosts reunion

Ghetto Urban Designs, a local non-governmental organisation will host a family reunion cultural festival to celebrate the role the institution plays in every society.
The event, which will be staged for the third time, is billed for Gaborone on May 31 and June 1

The festival is planned to coincide with the United Nations family celebrations and will be celebrated under the theme ‘My Family towards Nation Building.
The company’s managing director, Thato Sebati said in an interview that the family reunion cultural festival was meant to sensitise people about the important role that the family plays in society.
He said it would be done through workshops conducted by church leaders, financial advisors, psychologists, social workers, youth leaders and political leaders.
There will also be an exhibition of cultural dishes such as dikgobe, kabu and bogobe ja lerotse, amongst others.
The event is also scheduled to have an array of traditional games including diketo, morabaraba and dikgafela.
The two-day family festival will end in style with a cultural dinner dance and traditional attire fashion show. Sebati pointed out that the event will give families a platform to showcase their culture and tradition.
Thus, people are encouraged to attend with their families.
Furthermore, he said the festival was important because the family was an institution where major decisions were taken and where people learn about other family values, customs, needs, beliefs as well as anything that portrays the clan. ENDS
