Programme benefits 275 youth companies

Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Mr Nonofo Molefhi, has told Parliament that there are 288 youth contractors registered under his ministry since 2009.
He said out of these companies, 275 had benefited from the 15 per cent maintenance programme reserved for youth contractors with some having benefited more than once.
He added that during the 2015/2016 financial year, 50 youth companies benefited.
Minister Molefhi said from the companies that had benefited from the 15 per cent reservation programme, seven were from the Ghanzi District at the value of P3 984 079. 47 while 19 were from the Kgalagadi District at the value of P2 899 007.42.
MP for Ghanzi North, Mr Noah Salakae had asked the minister the number of youth construction companies registered under the ministry that have benefited from the 15 per cent maintenance programme and the number of those from Ghanzi and Kgalagadi districts and the value of work rendered in the two districts.
