More villages to get power
11 Feb 2016
There were no new villages budgeted for electrification during the 2014/15 financial year, except network extensions that were done in nine villages including Charleshill in Ghanzi South constituency.
Responding to a parliamentary question, the Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Mr Nonofo Molefhi said 10 new villages are earmarked for electrification and 24 villages for electricity network extension in the current financial year.
He said none of these villages are from Ghanzi North and Ghanzi South constituencies and therefore no budget has been allocated.
The Ghanzi North legislator, Mr Noah Salakae had wanted to know the number of settlements that were connected to electricity grid during the 2014/15 financial year. Again, MP Salakae wanted to know how many of these settlements are from Ghanzi North and South constituencies. Ends
